How We Combine Talents and Technology to Achieve Excellence in Manufacturing

June 20th, 2024

Since 1968, Nu-Way Industries has built our company culture around pushing the boundaries of what is possible with technology. In fact, our name was inspired by the turret machine our founders purchased when starting the company – the “new way” of manufacturing at the time.

We believe that technology has the power to expand human potential in manufacturing. Technology is not meant to replace people, but instead to complement them and allow them to focus on the elements of their work that are uniquely human: critical thinking and creative problem-solving.

Technology is No Substitute for Expertise

We are surrounded by technology in our daily lives, and often take for granted the fact that devices like smartphones “just work.” We don’t need to understand the inner workings of these devices to get the most out of them.

The same is not true in advanced manufacturing. You can’t utilize manufacturing technology to the fullest extent if you don’t understand the fundamentals of the process the technology enhances. Robots, cobots, and automated machine tools cannot design a new solution to a problem – they can only do what they are programmed to do. Said another way, you have to know exactly how to perform a process manually before you can automate it.

Our team has deep expertise in advanced manufacturing practices, more than five decades in business, and a keen understanding of when to leverage technology to improve our processes. We know what excellence in manufacturing looks like and constantly strive to discover new ways to apply technology to help us achieve excellence more efficiently and effectively.

The True Value of Automation

It is commonly understood that machines can automate work that would otherwise be physically strenuous or even dangerous for humans to perform. But a lesser-known, and equally important, benefit of automation is that it empowers humans to reach new levels of mastery in their craft.

At Nu-Way Industries, we use technology to give our staff more opportunities for creative problem-solving. Automating rote, repetitive processes gives us time back to focus on applying our expertise to design better processes.

With the time saved, we adopt a more holistic approach and focus on the bigger picture. We think beyond how to optimize our processes, and instead focus on how to optimize our processes with the next department in mind. What might they need to do with the part? How can we make their jobs easier with our process?

Automation allows our entire organization to be more effective, but getting the most out of automation requires additional skills beyond what is required in a manual process. We place a high value on personal growth, and we provide the training our employees need to learn new skills and achieve the level of expertise that is possible with advanced manufacturing technology.

At Nu-Way Industries, we believe in inspiring manufacturing excellence. Great employees make a great company, and we are always looking for individuals who share our values to join our team.
